One Surfacer. Maximum Throughput. Meet Speed-TEC 5560
As bodyshops face increasing repair volumes and rising energy costs, the need for faster, more efficient repair processes has never been greater. Spies Hecker is addressing this with the next generation Speed-TEC System - powered by Axalta’s Fast Cure Low Energy (FCLE) technology and engineered to deliver high performance with reduced energy consumption.
At the centre of the system is the Permasolid Speed-TEC HS Speed Surfacer 5560, a next-generation 2-in-1 solution that combines sanding and wet-on-wet applications in a single product. By eliminating the need for multiple surfacers, it simplifies product selection, reduces inventory and streamlines day-to-day bodyshop operations.
Designed for speed and efficiency, the surfacer offers exceptional air-drying performance, helping free up spray booth capacity and move repairs through the process faster. Within the full Speed-TEC system, total repair cycle times can be reduced to as little as 40 minutes at 40°C, supporting higher throughput in busy bodyshops.
Ease of use is a key advantage. A single hardener is used across both sanding and wet-on-wet applications, simplifying mixing processes and reducing complexity in the bodyshop. This streamlined approach helps minimise errors while improving overall efficiency.
The surfacer also delivers excellent application performance, with smooth flow and strong vertical stability straight from the spray gun. This ensures a uniform surface for reliable sanding or overcoating, supporting consistently high-quality paint results. Available in white, grey and black, it also helps optimise basecoat coverage and colour accuracy.
Energy efficiency remains a major focus. The Speed-TEC System is designed to cure effectively at temperatures of just 20°C, helping reduce reliance on energy-intensive bake cycles and delivering potential energy savings of up to 49% without compromising performance.
“As bodyshops continue to balance productivity, quality and cost pressures, the next generation Speed-TEC System offers a smarter, more flexible way to work,” said Jim Iliopoulos, Axalta ANZ’s Product & Technical Manager. “It’s about enabling faster repairs, reduced energy consumption and consistent, high-quality results.”
