Spies Hecker, the Cologne-based paint brand, is launching another new spectrophotometer. ColorDialog Compact is ideal for bodyshops who want a smooth transition from conventional colour matching to digital.
"With its simple, practical operation, and the wide range of possible uses, ColorDialog Compact helps to ensure accurate colour readings right from the start," says Dietmar Wegener, Spies Hecker Colour Management Specialist for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. "The user-friendly operation makes it the perfect tool for bodyshops who still use colour chips and have no experience in digital colour measurement."
Easy, user-friendly colour measurement
ColorDialog Compact is small, convenient and suitable not only for passenger car and commercial vehicle refinishing, but also for industrial painting. And solid and effect colours can easily be measured. The device is placed adjacent to the paint damage on the cleaned chassis. After just a few seconds, the sophisticated three-angle optics deliver a measurement result. Coloured LED indicators and an audible signal immediately provide feedback to the refinisher on whether the measurement was successful. The handling is intuitive and user-friendly: the colour touch screen can be operated with one finger or a stylus.
Web-based Phoenix colour database
After successfully measuring the colour, the data can be transmitted to Phoenix – the Spies Hecker colour software - via a micro USB cable. The measurement results are compared with over 200,000 stored colour formulas and corrected automatically, which saves the bodyshop having to keep conventional colour formula documentation. "The regular updating of the database and the ability to work directly online are the greatest benefits of digital colour management," explains Wegener. "Access to current data can not be achieved using colour chips, and given the large number of new car colours that come to the market annually, a current formula database is indispensable. In this respect, the Phoenix colour database makes daily work a lot easier for refinishers."
A labour-saving investment
Wegener believes digital colour measurement is an investment in the future of the bodyshop. "It's already standard in modern, well-equipped workshops not only because of their measuring accuracy, but also because of their speed, so it supports more efficient working processes. Ultimately, this benefits the business, which makes ColorDialog Compact an investment that can pay off quickly,” he says.
